Major Application Project
Purpose
To provide the participant with the opportunity to
plan, organise and implement a major project in the workplace that
is based upon the learning in other units, and has outcomes which
are relevant to the organisation.
Duration
40 hours of project development time, 20 hours
of reporting and self-assessment.

Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of the unit, the participant
will be able to:
- Analyse a problem situation in the workplace
which may be resolved by the application of an appropriate methodology
- Identify the elements of the problem situation
and propose a method to determine an optimum solution within the
boundaries that apply
- Proceed to develop a solution using the
most appropriate means
- Be aware of the approach to the problem
solving approach selected, aware of the processes being applied,
the planning and organisation and the individual’s contribution
to the outcomes
- Put in place an evaluation instrument which
provides evidence of the appropriateness of both the product and
the process
- Write a learning contract that includes
a plan for the development of the project, the nature of the learning
that will (need to) occur, the manner in which the learning will
occur, the anticipated application of knowledge from other units
studied, and a timeframe.
